Crazy days to be dutch in Madrid! This was taken near our house, minutes after Spain qualified for the World Cup Finals - may the best team win!!!
sunday was brunch day and it included, out of a whole lot of other things… strawberries filled with chocolate - made by me. which is why they look so messy.
summer has arrived!! all over madrid’s outskirts the weeds are bursting into bloom and purple, yellow and red rule the view. mostly to be enjoyed while travelling to uni on the bus, so photographic evidence is difficult.
this minor sandwich is called a zapatilla, and its filled with spanish cheese and ham, and then grilled. its gigantic. it seems to fit more in the category ‘this is why you’re fat’. but we split it between the 6 of us, so it makes it okay.
Last weekend was filled with gorgeous food moments. These are croquetas, filled with bechamel sauce and pieces of spanish ham, about the size of your fist. Too good.
Last week Madrid celebrated a potent mixture of celebrations, 100 years of Gran Via, and Madrid’s patron saint, San Isidro. Too bad it fell on a saturday, so no free days this month (shocking, as we’ve had free days all other months). Anywho… paella was obviously part of the celebrations.
